About

As a former owner of a native plant nursery I know very well the need for good, educational, marketing materials. If  potential customer’s questions aren’t answered plants don’t sell. However, not all customers have the same questions because their needs

Edithand gardening experiences vary. That’s why it’s critical for horticultural businesses to decide who they’re targeting and craft appropriate marketing materials. This calls for broad knowledge of horticulture and working with potential customers at all levels of the industry.

In addition to owning a native plant nursery, I’ve raised vegetables for direct marketing, been an Extension agent, managed a demonstration vegetable garden, done horticultural research, and hobby gardened.  This means I understand horticulture from both the industry and consumer’s perspectives which puts me in the unique position of being able to craft effective copy that sells to consumers and other businesses. Just let me your marketing goals and I’ll craft appropriate marketing marketing materials.

I’ve always been fascinated by plants which is why I pursued college studies in horticulture and range science.  The result was I earned both B.S. and M.S. degrees in horticulture along with extra range science hours. While working on my masters I found I liked writing as well as doing research both in the lab and in the library. I liked it so much I finished writing my thesis and two articles for scientific journals.  There is nothing I like better than finding the facts and presenting them in a concise manor that is understandable to those not familiar with academic or industry specific terms.

As an Extension agent I continued writing by authoring several fact sheets and regular garden columns for the local newspaper. I even wrote a few marketing materials as a native plant nursery owner but didn’t have the time to do as much as I needed.

I’m a member of Garden Writers’ Association, Professional Writers’ Association, American Society for Horticultural Science,  and the Nevada Landscape Association. I’ve kept my writing skills fresh by completing American Writers’ and Artists’ Institute programs in direct marketing copy and business to business (B2B) copy writing. To supplement my writing I took photography classes so I  can illustrate my plants when words don’t do them justice. My photography has won several awards and I’ve been invited to exhibit my work at a local fine arts center.

When I’m not writing about gardening, I’m gardening,  playing flute, taking pictures in my garden, or walking my dogs. To satisfy my longing for gardening during the winter I have a greenhouse.
